Having an epic salad dressing to toss your greens with can be a major deal breaker when it comes to eating salads everyday. Having a salad dressing rich with healthy fats also does a double duty: it ensures that those healthy fat soluble vitamins such as Vitamin K and beta carotene found abundantly in greens can be properly absorbed by the body. The trouble is, most store bought salad dressings are absolutely loaded with the funkiest of ingredients, some of the worst culprits being preservatives, sugar, hefty amounts of table salt, artificial and "natural" flavors, hydrogenated and other processed oils, and even "flavor enhancers" like MSG. One word: YUCK. Whipping up your own fresh dressing is 100% the way to go - it's way more flavorful, more nutritious, and it's so easy, especially when you have a few flavors of Dastony stone ground goodness in your pantry - they work amazing for creamy-style dressings.
Today we are utilizing the wonders of our stone ground Watermelon Seed Butter to add an insane richness and thickness to this raw vegan caesar-style dressing. We've coined it a "SEAsar" dressing because it also features mineral-rich dulse powder (a sea vegetable!) which lends a nice saltiness and a sort of anchovie-like flavor without the actual fish. If you're wondering what Watermelon Seed Butter Tastes like, it's very similar to a deeply flavored toasted sesame butter, but with a consistency that is quite dense like cashew. It works exceptionally well in dressings - a must try! You can find out more about the health benefits in a previous blog HERE.
